We'll Take a Cup of Kindness Yet

Goodness, Autumn Semester has just flown by! We’ve had so many great events and experiences this semester, but these last few weeks have been host to some of my absolute favorite moments with all of my wonderful Brothers!

On November 10th, some brothers geared up and head to the RPAC for…

BATTLESHIP: PSP EDITION!

Battleship was a great event where the Brothers brought out their competitive sides (perhaps a little too much…). This aquatic adventure and surprising upper body workout was such a great event to showcase fellowship, and some unbridled ferocity. Throwing buckets of water into my Brothers’ faces repeatedly was perhaps a little more fun than I’m willing to admit.

Shout-out to Amber DuPree for taking some fantastic action shots!

Next, on November 16th, we came together in full Programming style with…

A TASTE OF PSP

We all know that no one can eat like our Beta Iota Brothers can, but we found out our Brothers can also cook like no other! Brothers brought some of their favorite dishes from their culture and shared what they meant to them and their families. It was a delicious and informational time for all!

Shout-out to Fallon Zakeri for cooking enough food to feed the entire chapter!

For the most exciting part of this semester, on November 22nd the whole chapter united for…

INDUCTIONS AND BANQUET!

Our initiate class this semester has been absolutely amazing, and I personally could not wait for them to be inducted as new Brothers! We’ve been seeing amazing things from the Alpha Rho class all semester, and it is such a delight to finally have them as our Alpha bRhos J! After inductions, we shuttled over to Younkin, for a fabulous banquet planned by Lauren Hammersmith and her wonderful committee! From delicious food, to a great slideshow, to some sentimental moments, Winter Banquet and Inductions made for a great evening.

Shout-out to Greg Gase for being our one Alumnus this semester! We’ll miss you Bro and all the best for the amazing things in your future!

And finally, on November 24th, the Brothers loosened their belts and put on their stretchy pants for…

PHI SIGMA THANKSGIVING!

As mentioned our brothers are world champion eaters, and this event proved just that. We ate, and ate, and ate, and ate some more. Beyond eating, this event was host to some great moments for fellowship and brother bonding.

Shout-out to Katie Caldwell and Emily Miller, the Social Chairs, for sending us off on such a high note!

This has been a wonderful semester in PSP and I look forward to all the amazing events Spring Semester will bring! Have a wonderful holiday season!

An Alpha Pi Perspective on Being a New Brother

For many people, part of the typical college experience entails “going Greek” and joining a sorority or fraternity.  Heading into my second year at The Ohio State University, I was skeptical; I couldn’t really see myself in such a situation, and felt like Greek Life maybe just wasn’t for me.  Upon insistence from some good-intentioned friends, however,I gave the system one last shot in winter of 2012, and rushed Phi Sigma Pi (after a brother, who was also a friend, recommended it to me).

When people think “fraternity”, the first word that pops into their head is most certainly not “co-ed”.  Even, so that’s exactly what Phi Sigma Pi is - a coed national honors fraternity, filled with some of the most amazing and intelligent people that I have had the pleasure of meeting while at college.

 Alpha Pi Buckeye Bonding!

As a newly inducted brother, I’m still getting acclimated to all of my responsibilities; but, more importantly, I’m beginning to realize all of the opportunities that Phi Sigma Pi has presented to me.  Whether it be the fraternity’s yearly retreat, or a simple movie night, I have never felt more comfortable with a group of individuals as I do when I’m with my brothers (yes, even the female members are referred to as “brothers”).

College is a fantastic experience filled with some of the most amazing people, and moments, of your life, though sometimes you need more than just friends; you need people you love like family.  And that’s where Phi Sigma Pi comes in.
