Holly Roddy

Holly is a third year studying Hospitality Management with a Business Minor.

What is your favorite part about Phi Sigma Pi?
  • My Favorite part of PSP is the variety of people in it. You get more out of interactions when there's opposing opinions and a wide spectrum of views.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life what would it be and why?
  • If I could only listen to one song for the rest of my life I'd probably go crazy. I'd probably pick the Arctic Monkey's acoustic version of 'Cornerstone' though. That's the most played song on my iTunes and I'm still not sick of it because it's just pretty and simple.
What is one goal you currently have?
  • One of my the main goals I have for myself right now is to pay attention to my physical and mental health. With classes and work it's so easy to skip sleeping or eat junk food so I've been mindful of making sure I'm still taking care of myself.

Marissa Ajamian

Marissa is a second year studying Dance and minoring in History.

What is your favorite part about Phi Sigma Pi?
  • My favorite part of PSP is all the amazing people here at Beta Iota, especially my family!
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life what would it be and why?
  • Being an avid Disney fan, it would have to be a Disney song. One of my favorites is "Go the Distance" from Hercules. This song inspires me to push myself to achieve every time I hear it.
What is one goal you currently have?
  • To relax! I am always busy and always have a to-list in my head. My goal is to set aside time for myself and read a book or watch Netflix!

What is your favorite dinosaur?
  • Bronchiosauras, or "long-necks"... I watched a lot of Land Before Time growing up.
When you think of childhood what is the memory that comes to your mind?

What is your favorite part about Phi Sigma Pi?
  • My favorite part about Phi Sigma Pi is definitely getting to know all the Brothers, new and old, over time. I love how all the Brothers share the same tripod values, yet still have such diverse interests. It makes for a great dynamic!

What is your favorite Ohio State memory?
  • My favorite Ohio State memory, by far, is when we won the National Championship. I loved rushing the stadium and feeling the camaraderie between all of the thousands of Buckeyes who were there with me that night.

If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life what would it be and why?
  • If I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life, it would definitely be ice cream. Specifically, I would eat a Jeni's trio with Milkiest Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, and Buckeye State flavors with Salty Caramel sauce on top and a waffle wedge.

  • Harry Styles- He is basically the most wonderful person in the world!

Malerie Holte

Malerie is a second year studying English.

What is your favorite PSP memory?
  • My favorite memory is from when the Alpha Epsilons did Schott clean up. We were exhausted and smelled of nacho cheese, but laughed all the way home, even when we missed the bus and a couple of us fell off the curb trying to chase it down Lane. It was a great bonding experience.
What is your favorite book to read and why?
  • You can't ask an English major this question! So many options! I'd have to say The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera. It was the book that changed the way I looked at literature and it also really resonated with me personally. I find myself going back for powerful quotes all the time.
If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
  • I would probably live on the Serbian coast. That way, I'd be essentially in between Europe and Asia and also near the beach.

Andrea Orosz

4th year studying Public Health

What is your favorite thing about being in PSP?
  • All of the member's good sense of humor.
If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life what would it be and why?
  • Graters Ice Cream because I love dairy even though I am lactose intolerant.
What is the best piece of advice you have been given?
  • Do not get married before the age of 25 because your pre-frontal cortex is not fully developed until then so you should not make any huge life-changing decisions.

Tyler Whitlock

4th year studying Psychology

What is your favorite thing about being in PSP?
  • Probably meeting a bunch of great new friends and of course my family in the fraternity!
If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life what would it be and why?
  • Oooh, tough question. Probably burgers even though i don't eat them all that often.
What is the best piece of advice you have been given?
  • Extremely tough question... Probably this advice by my friend Jesse: "It doesn't matter how you think you should be feeling, you need to deal with how you are feeling." I think a lot of the times we want to doubt ourselves and how we feel as being right, but that doesn't matter. No matter what you have to deal with how you are feeling otherwise you'll never truly progress in my opinion.

Sanchita Dhond

4th year studying Pharmaceutical Science with a minor in Business

What is your favorite part about being a Brother in PSP?
  • Always having friends to do stuff with!
What is your spirit animal?
  • Elephants because they are gentle giants.
If you could relive one moment in your life again, what moment would it be and why?
  • Walking on the Great Wall of China because it was so surreal!

Julia Humensky

3rd year studying Accounting

What is your favorite part about being a Brother in PSP?
  • Getting to try things that I never thought I would before I joined. For example, last semester I went to the shooting range and learned how to shoot a gun. I don't know if I would have ever done that if not for PSP. That and the people are awesome.

What is your spirit animal?
  • A squirrel, while they may not be the most conventional spirit animal, I feel like I really identify with them. They are scrappy, agile, seemingly confused a lot of the time, and the ones on campus are fearless, which I think describes me well. Oh, and I spend most of my time thinking about food also!

If you could relive one moment in your life again, what moment would it be and why?
  • The moment when I got to take a picture with the volleyball player Kerri Walsh. She is one of my idols and I was super excited to just even be in her presence for a moment.

  • Chocolate or anything made of potatoes, maybe lasagna. I'm indecisive.
What is your favorite PSP memory?
  • Getting my little Erin Ponting last semester.
Who is your hero?
  • My hero is my grandmother, Natheta Mercer.
If I could be anybody besides myself, I would be...
  • Leslie Knope and/or Beyonce. Doesn't matter.

Marisa Lally

4th year majoring in International Relations and Spanish

If you could have an endless supply of any food, what would you get?
  • I would ask for soup. Soup is my favorite food and also allows for a lot of creativity, so I wouldn't get tired of it. Ramen, split pea, pho, alphabet, chicken noodle, potato, wedding, miso, matzo ball, tortilla, tomato, etc.
What is your favorite PSP memory?
  • I have lots of great memories, but one of my favorites is when I was Gia's canoe partner during a retreat. Not only were we very terrible at canoeing, but we also got stuck in a tree that rained spiders. Gia was completely panicked and I will never forget it.
Who is your hero?
  • My hero is my mom. She's smart, independent, reasonable, bilingual, a social butterfly and great at thrift shopping. She also has the best knife skills and is super good at personal finance.

Amber DuPree

4th Year (It's Goblet of Fire year, so I'm very busy trying to win the Triwizard Cup (read: graduate) majoring in Film Studies and Strategic Communication

If you could make any fictional character come to life, which would it be?
  • As per my Harry Potter reference before, it would probably have to be Sirius Black. I mean that would also require him to be brought back to life (this is not a spoiler alert, you all have had several years to read OR watch Harry Potter) but we have the same Myers-Briggs type (ENTP) and like many of the same things (motorcycles, dogs, creating chaos) so I can imagine all of the great debauchery we could get ourselves into.

What “most likely to” superlative would you be most honored to receive and why?
  • "Most likely to unknowingly have a screw lodged in their ear for an indiscriminate amount of time"  It's a thing that has happened to me recently and it perfectly describes me as a being. It is also a story that is told waaaaaay better in person so holla at your Bro.

What about yourself do you find the most pride in and why?
  • My unrelentless drive to be myself. Sure that may mean I state things as if they are fact that are actually possibly opinion (ie "Saltwater turns your hair blonde"). Or even purchasing and consuming 36 mangos within two weeks. But I absolutely take pride that I won't compromise my authentic self for anyone or anything. (but let's see how I handle Hollywood)

What was the best birthday you ever had and why?
  • Probably my 21st and it's not what you think. Ok maybe it is exactly what you think if you know me. My birthday was over labor day weekend and so I took a trip to Canada with my sister and my Mom where we drove from Columbus to Toronto and then to Montreal. The drive was beautiful with all of the birch trees. I went to the Hockey Hall of Fame sporting my new Canucks jersey and eat some delicious French-Canadian cuisine. It was so rad. Yeah, I said it. RAD.

Susi Martinez

Second-year majoring in International Studies and minoring in Global Public Health and Spanish

What is your biggest fear?
  • My biggest fear has always been spiders because they're creepy and can crawl all over you. But recently I found out another fear of mine is falling through ice into freezing water (which I discovered after walking across a frozen Mirror Lake after the National Championship game win!) It's okay though because I didn't fall through!
What's the best meal you've ever had?
  • It's hard to pick one meal, but I would say the best food I've had was called a rolex in Uganda last summer. It's basically an omelette rolled up in chapati (a really good fried bread) and you can put other vegetables in it, like tomatoes and avocado.
What's the best compliment you've ever received?
  • One really nice complement I received was from members on my Buck-I-SERV trip this year over spring break. I was one of the trip leaders, and a few members told me that they could tell how passionate I was toward helping others advocate against injustices - which means a lot to me because I try to bring awareness to social issues as much as I can!

Megan Novotny

Second year majoring in Nursing

What is the craziest thing that you have ever done in your life?
  • My friends and I bought a rotisserie chicken at giant eagle and sat outside on the curb and ate it with our hands (Don't ask questions, we're weird)
If you could be reincarnated as a fruit, what would it be and why?
  • A mango because its my favorite fruit and its super sweet and juicy and delicious.
If you could have been a child prodigy what would you have wanted to be skilled at and why?
  • Something art related like painting or sculpting because I am not artistic at all and wish I was. Plus it would be super relaxing to just paint and sculpt all day instead of learning.
What do you hope to achieve by 50?
  • By age 50 I hope to have traveled to Africa once or more as a nurse, feel like I traveled a lot a saw the world, and I hope to not be living alone with a bunch of dogs as my family instead of people (I'd be a crazy dog lady not cat lady, cats are scary).

Pallavi Oruganti

Junior majoring in Anthropological Sciences

What is the craziest thing that you have ever done in your life?
  • My crazy threshold is probably not as high as other people, but probably the craziest thing I've done is go on an archaeological dig in Ireland. Completely random and nothing to do with my major but so worth it!
If you could be reincarnated as a fruit, what would it be and why?
  • If was reincarnated as a fruit, I would be a pineapple. I think pineapples describe my personality pretty well. Kinda prickly one the outside but sweet (and sometimes sour) on the inside. Added bonus, getting to live in a tropical place!
If you could have been a child prodigy what would you have wanted to be skilled at and why?
  • I would love to have been a child singing prodigy. Because I can sing now but it would be awesome to be actually good enough to be famous for it. That or chemistry. Because I've had a tumultuous relationship with chemistry all through college haha
What do you hope to achieve by 50?
  • By the time I'm 50, I hope to be a veterinarian working in the field of global public health. I'd love to be working for a governmental branch like the USDA and the CDC to help address issues of animal and human health worldwide. Maybe eradicate a disease or two, we'll see :)

Fourth-year in biology

What is your worst fear?

  • Sleeping through an exam and then failing the class and having to live in a van down by the river making a living as a motivational speaker.
What's your favorite article of clothing?

  • A nice, pressed oxford. Dress it up with some nice slacks and a tie? Sure. Dress it down with some jeans and maybe a nice pullover? Always. Throw it on with some sweats? No, you animal.
If you were famous what would you be famous for?

  • I'd like to be famous for being just slightly better at everything my friend, Alek, does. Oh you got your girlfriend a dozen roses for Valentine's Day? I got mine 13. Sell the rights as a sitcom. Call it, "Because I'm That Guy."
What's your favorite movie?

  • Top Gun. This movie bleeds Red, White and Blue. Goose's mustache alone can cure Communism. Mav's power move of revving his motorcycle engine and stating, "I'm sorry I can't hear you." Complete savage. If you wanna put 20 pounds on your bench and eat a dead man's boogers for breakfast and then ask for seconds, watch this movie and feel the freedom.

Katie McLellan

 Senior majoring in Logistics

If you were to make a time capsule from the past year, what 3 things would you put into it?
  • A picture of my Alpha (b)Rhos at Founders Day last year because I just love them so much, and they’ve been a huge part of my year. I would also put the ornament I have with all my roommates names on it. Finally, I would put movie ticket stubs and the mini golf scorecard from different dates with the biff (Zach Oberlander).

If you were president, what is the first thing you would do?
  • I would make Bachelor mandatory to watch so Cati Pachmayer would be happy because that is my most important priority.
If you could live in any period in history, when would it be?
  • 1920’s because it just seems like fun with the dancing and all that jazz.
What’s the best gift you’ve ever given and why?
  • The picture I took with my brothers with Santa like 3 years ago for my parents. Because my parents cried, and what says winning gift more than making someone cry?

Rachel Podell

Senior majoring in Health Sciences

If you were to make a time capsule from the past year, what 3 things would you put into it?
  • Three things I would put in my time capsule: rocks from Jerusalem to remind me of my trip to Israel, a picture of my family, and my grandmothers blueberry pie recipe because this past summer she taught me how to make blueberry pie!
If you were president, what is the first thing you would do?
  • If I was president the first thing I would do is give everyone equal access to good healthcare.
If you could live in any period in history, when would it be?
  • I would want to live in the 1920's because I love swing dance and swing music. Also it was before WWII and the great depression so things were probably pretty good back then.
What’s the best gift you’ve ever given and why?
  • The best gift I've ever given was a picture book made from iPhoto for my mom for her 50th birthday. She absolutely loves it and still keeps it on display to this day.

The pinning ceremony took place in the Union. Pictured above is everyone's favorite part-- the Big reveal!

From left to right: Mrinali Sethi, Katie Duff, Marissa Ajamian, Jenny Boughton and Jenny Lee. Mrinali and Katie are Marissa's Bigs!

As tradition, Brothers celebrated the new class after the ceremony at El Vaquero. We're looking forward to watching Alpha Upsilon grow through the initiate process and become full members of Beta Iota!

What is your dream job and why?
  • Still considering my options, but at the moment a tax lawyer at a hospital!

  • I LOVE food and trying new food. But my favorite kind of food is Lebanese food from a small family owned restaurant in my hometown. Its fresh made pita bread and homemade hummus is my favorite!
What’s the earliest memory you can remember?
  • Disney when I was four. I got pneumonia halfway through our trip and was miserable, but my Cinderella nightgown made it all better. I got my first puppy the day we got home from Disney too so it was an exciting time.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
  • Being comfortable is the most dangerous thing you can be in life. Amazing things happen when you step outside of your comfort zones and experience new things. This is advice that my older sister, Shelby gave me when I was making my decision about where to go to college.

Krissy Dilger

Fourth year majoring in Criminology and Psychology

What is your dream job and why?
  • I would love to work for the FBI as a criminal investigator.  I think it would be an interesting job that would always keep me on my toes and provide me with new and challenging puzzles to solve.
What was the best meal you’ve ever eaten and where was it?
  • I don't really know if this was the best meal ever, because there have been a lot of great ones, but it's the first one to come to mind. I had paella at a restaurant in Barcelona, Spain.  The seafood was the freshest I have ever had because the restaurant was on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. It was amazing!
What’s the earliest memory you can remember?
  • My earliest memory is of Story Book Forest, which is a theme park in Pennsylvania for young children.  I remember all the characters walking around from the fairy tales I learned about as a kid.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
  • You regret more what you don't do in your life than the things you do and fail at. So as long as you try, there's nothing to be afraid of.
